Friendship and a Prom in between

Prom... is a short term for the word Promotion.... Senior High school students get promoted to college or University, but basically the promotion is into adulthood. As 'kids' get dressed for their prom in magnificent suits, looking their shinny best, their hearts beat with emotion, emphasis, determination and joy. They can only envision their lifes after crossing that finish line, set up since Kindergarden, as gorgeous and incredible and as a pot to be filled only with 'amazing'.
Parents are not invited to the party. We should be there! We have been along the way, every single day, hoping for their success, nourishing their desire to dream as much as their endurance to achieve their goals. Knowing their friends as well and wanting all of them to cross that goal together.
We took pictures, we applauded, we smiled and we were as excited as they were, they just don't know that, yet. (They will have the feeling in a quarter of a century or so).
This morning I invited three of my friends, that I met along my eldest son's path. PreK 3 was the place I met one of them, his son and my son have been so close for 15 years now, sharing teachers, trainers and their passion for soccer.
We were chatting, mainly about our kids accomplishments, how they grew, where are they flying to. How far, how high they might go, depends on their will, their dreams, their dedication and responsibility. We will be there, I am sure, to applaud them, and be happy for them, as we keep sharing a friendship that will keep growing as much as they have done.
Some friendships are born from tailoring our toddlers in to the playground, in the middle of our children's childhood, and are meant to last beyond our adulthood, celebrating in between with parties, first communions, proms, soccer games, heartaches accomplishments, victories and always time for a warm cup of tea.
